VirginiaCyber (“we,” “us”) runs virginiacyber.com, a cybersecurity jobs, events, directory and news site for Virginia, and the VirginiaCyber Brief newsletter. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and, if you provide them, your name, title and company.
- Forms you submit: job postings, event submissions, directory listings, provider-match requests and other inquiries, including your contact details and what you tell us.
- Job post payments: handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation that you paid and your billing email. We never see or store your card number.
- Advertising forms: if you respond to one of our ads (for example, a LinkedIn Lead Gen Form), the platform shares the details you chose to submit, such as your name, work email, job title and company.
- Usage data: standard information such as pages viewed, referring site, browser and approximate location, collected through our hosting provider and through advertising and analytics tools that may use cookies or similar technologies (for example, the LinkedIn Insight Tag).
How we use it
- To send the VirginiaCyber Brief and related updates you asked for.
- To publish job listings, events and directory listings, and to respond to your requests.
- To process payments and prevent fraud.
- To understand how the site is used and to measure and improve our advertising.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, such as Beehiiv (newsletter delivery), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting and security) and LinkedIn (advertising measurement), and when required by law. When you post a job or event, the details you submit for publication are shown publicly.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
- Access, correction or deletion: email us and we will respond within 30 days.
- Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also opt out of interest-based ads in your LinkedIn ad settings.
Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
This site is intended for professionals and is not directed to children under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the effective date above.
